Panoramic Software Utilities (PSUtils) version 0.7 README
This is the second public beta release of the Panoramic Software Utilities
for the WindowsCE platform. This release includes a Date/Time Inserter,
Memory/Storage status info and a customizable application launcher.
Please read the license agreement for details about distribution.
In short: give it to anyone, but dont charge for it unless you have
written permission.
History:
6-29-97 First public release. This release contained only
the Date/Time inserter.
7-12-97 Second release. This contains Date/Time Inserter,
Memory/Storage Info, Customizable App Launcher.
Fixes: Fixed bug in DTI where a string inserted had
a bad character in the end (bug in my Unicode handling).
Included are both the MIPS and SH versions in the Zip file. It has been
tested on a Velo (MIPS) only, and has not been tested on any SH machines.
Comments on how it runs are requested for both platforms.
To run it, double click on the executable and an icon should appear in the
system tray (where the time is). Click on it with the stylus and a menu
should appear with the following choices: App Runner, Date / Time, and Memory
Status. Upon clicking on any one of them, another menu will pop up with choices
concerning the appropriate selection.
For instance, if you chose the App Runner, another menu will appear with the
options: Add To List, and Remove From List, plus any applications that you may
have added before. If you chose Add, you will get a dialog where you can type
a description of the application/document you are adding, plus the filename (or
you can search for it using the browse button). You are not limited to applications, so you can add text documents, PWord docs, PExcel files, and anything else that has an association, and it will execute.
After adding your first app/doc, a new file will appear in the top-most directory, named PSUtils.txt. This is the configuration file where PSUtils stores its info. If this file is deleted, you will have to add your applications to the menu from the beginning. If you are deleting an app from the menu, you will get a dialog with a list of the applications that you
have on the menu. After you choose one of the applications, click OK to delete
it from the app launcher, or Cancel to leave it as is. Please note there is a
maximum of 10 applications that can be put on the menu.
If you chose Date / Time, you will get another pop-up menu with many time and date formats. After you choose one (either with the styles, or by traveling through the menu with the cursor keys), you are then able to paste (CTRL-V or Paste from an Edit menu) into any application which accepts text from the clipboard.
If you picked Memory Status, you will get information about how much space you are using for Memory, how much space you are using for Storage, and how much you have free.
